If you haven’t already heard, your website needs to be mobile friendly, or simply put Google won’t love you!

It was predicted some years back the mobile phone usage for internet would overtake the norm of PCs and wherever you research that indeed is now the case.

The prediction is true, Australia has embraced mobile technology, we, are now one of the biggest users in the world per capita with in excess of 30 million mobile phone connections! Doesn’t make sense more mobile phones than people. But here’s the thing, it is a fact we now use our phones differently, 21% of us EXCLUSIVELY use our mobile phones for internet usage, that’s staggering.

Getting back to YOU. What are you going to do about your antiquated website?

You’ve already been told that Google doesn’t love you, but neither will those savvy mobile users that simply won’t be able to view your website on their phones. So what will they do? Pass you by, opportunity missed, if you’re not already convinced here’s a great link courtesy of ACMA click here;

Latest Social Media Statistics from Social Media News

Latest social media statistics 2015 here’s the news ….A new report from SocialMediaNews.com.au for May 2015 shows that the world of Facebook is in a steady state with no new growth – while Instagram goes ahead in strides. If you hang around any young people you will see they spend a lot of time now with Instagram. Here is the report in full below.

Social Media Statistics Australia – May 2015

1. Facebook – 14,000,000 users (steady)
2. YouTube – 13,750,000 UAVs
3. WordPress.com – 5,800,000
4. Instagram – 5,000,000 Monthly Active Australian Users (Facebook/ Instagram data)
5. Tumblr – 4,500,000
6. LinkedIn – 3,550,000
7. Blogspot – 2,800,000
8. Twitter – 2,791,300 Active Australian Users (see calculation)
9. WhatsApp – 2,400,000 Active Australian Users (see calculation)
10. TripAdvisor – 2,100,000
11. Tinder – 1,500,000 Australian users (my estimation)
12. Yelp – 1,500,000
13. Snapchat – 1,070,000 Active Australian Users (see calculation).
14. Flickr – 660,000
15. Pinterest – 330,000
16. Reddit – 150,000
17. MySpace – 105,000
18. Google Plus – approx 60,000 monthly active Australian users (my estimation *revised*)
19. StumbleUpon – 48,000
20. Foursquare/Swarm – 25,000
21. Digg – 18,000
22. Delicious – 16,000

(All figures represent the number of Unique Australian Visitors [UAVs] to that website over the monthly period – unless otherwise stated above).

Key Points to Note:

Instagram has seen 32% growth in Australia over the past 2 months, now serving 5 million monthly Australian users.
Most social networks in the top 10 are retaining their user base. Smaller tier 2 and tier 3 networks slowly lose users over time as people concentrate their time on the main social networks.
There is still room for growth in Australia and we do have an appetite for new apps. Over the last year Tinder has gone from virtually no users in Australia to 1.5 million +.

Blogging is still a popular medium as WordPress and Tumblr still attract a significant audience every month. New users are signing up particularly students and business professionals looking for a basic/ free websites to collate their material.

BYO Graphic Design File? Tips Made Easy

Our clients often come to us for print with their own artwork files, sometimes they are not actually print ready.  To help you we’ve compiled a list of simple instructions and some great terminology links to ensure your graphic design is ready to print!

1.   Ensure all images are 300 dpi or larger (this avoids pixilation and gives you a sharp image)

2.  Ensure your file is set CMYK throughout (RGB is unsuitable for offset print) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CMYK_color_model

3.   3mm Bleed around the perimeter of your document http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleed_(printing)

4.   Trim or crop marks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crop_mark

5.   Ask for you file to be set up as a PDF high resolution, print ready format which should encompass all off points 1-4

Our final tip is to obtain both the native file (origin such as Adobe InDesign or Illustrator) and your pdf and archive, having these files will save you time and money if you need to reprint or just update in the future
